Hi!

Speaker, mental health advocate and an impolite woman of the south, here to share my shamelessly honest opinion on important social topics.

Occasionally, I’ll discuss my travels, but mostly I'll be talking to women of color, specifically black women who are on the brink of journey or in the thick of the journey. Wherever you are, join the convo!!

Atlanta, GA people, let’s collaborate!

Why Do We Use Chakras?

Why Do We Use Chakras?

Although chakras were primarily developed in India, knowledge and use of energy forces have been used since the beginning of humanity and we are all aware that humanity began in Africa so for the fun of it, I will offer connections to African spirituality.

The chakras are our energy centers that connect us to the divinity within us and to the world around us. This makes understanding energy important so let me try my hand at a brief explanation. The being of God is an energy, God’s energy flows through each and every one of us. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it just passes from one place to another. If you are feeling off balanced, it is likely that your chakras are off balance. If you are afraid of the idea of energies, call it a spirit or a vibe but understand it’s just nomenclature.

Anyway, I believe in energy healing because I believe that God has given us everything on this earth that we need to thrive; be it stones, plants, fruits, flowers. God created everything. Even the colors; colors give off energy as well. You are energy, every living thing is an energy. So, if every living thing is an energy then it only makes sense that energy heals energy.

Most of what lies ahead is drawn from and inspired by Opening to Spirit: Contacting the Healing Power of the Chakras and Honouring African Spirituality by Caroline Shola Arewa. There is so much that will not be included here so I urge you to do your own research if the spirit leads you.
